Around here, we’re a little unconventional with our beer releases. Avarice was first released during a June heat wave. Our spring beer was an oaked quad. And now, even though it’s near August, we’re introducing a summer brew.
On Saturday, August 9th, we give you…River North Tripel!
You didn’t think we’d make just another summer beer, did you? Bursting with notes of apricot, pear and lemon, River North Tripel finishes with a crisp, dry bite. And yes, it’s just a hair over 9% ABV.
As always, both drafts and bombers-to-go will be available at the release party August 9th. Bottles will cost $9, and even though we only brewed a single batch, there will be no bottle limit.
Many of you have been clamoring to see what we can do with a Tripel, and after perfecting the recipe, we think we’ve nailed it. Who knows, maybe we’ll turn this into a year-round beer someday…
But for now, with only 15 barrels, this release will be as fleeting as summer…don’t miss it!
Around here, we’re always looking for new exotic flavors for our barrel-aged brews. And if you’ve spoke with any of our brewers in the last few months, you know we’ve been giddy about some cocktail barrels we recently scored.
Well now the first is ready. Saturday, July 26th at 1pm, we give you…
Grand Unified Theory, our imperial witbier aged in Boulevardier cocktail barrels!
Oh yes we did…
Straight bourbon whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitter orange liqueur lend Grand Unified Theory a spicy citrus note that is the perfect complement to its robust wheat backbone. We promise you’ve never tasted anything like this before (we hadn’t!).
The first in a series of cocktail-barrel-aged releases, both drafts and bombers-to-go of Grand UT will be available at the July 26th release party. Bottles will cost $15 with a limit of three per person.
We also have two other cocktail-barrel-aged beers in the works. Big City Quad is an amped-up Quandary recipe aged in Manhattan barrels. And for those who remember the draft-only taproom beer Barrel Blonde, we’re working on a full bottle release of that too (aged in a blend of Manhattan, Boulevardier and whiskey barrels). Both of these will release in the next couple months.
It’s gonna be a tasty end to the summer!
The Locals’ Club: where regulars become friends.
Many of you have been asking about this year’s rendition of our VIP group. We will likely only have a few spots available this year, so mark your calendars.
New spots in the 2014-2015 Locals’ Club will be available Sunday, July 20th at 1pm, on a first-come, first-served basis in the taproom.
As always, last year’s Locals will have a chance to renew before new spots go on sale (check your emails, Locals – spam folder too!). We will keep the cap at 100, so we expect to have only a couple dozen spots for newcomers. We’ll announce the exact number shortly before the public sale.
This year’s membership includes:
- $1 off each and every beer you consume in the taproom for the entire year
- Exclusive, stainless steel swing-top 32-ounce “Locals” growler
- Mega-official keychain bottle opener – this is your membership card
- Locals-only holiday party – we shut down the whole brewery and pull out the good stuff
- Exclusive usage of Locals glassware in the taproom
- And finally, new this year: Locals who absolutely cannot make a bottle release will be allowed to purchase after-the-fact from brewery reserves
The 2014-2015 Locals’ Club membership will sell for $60. After this year, new members will only be allowed to join when existing members choose not to renew, so if you want in, don’t miss out this year!
Words cannot express how grateful we are to all the Locals that have supported us over the years. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you all.
