Oud Bruin! Saturday, June 14th!

Finally, it’s time!

After nearly two years, Oud Bruin is ready!!! Our longest running project, we’re damn proud of this brew.

Debuting Saturday, June 14th at 1pm, Oud Bruin is an exercise in balance: tartness from Lacto, funk from Brett, sweet Belgian malts and a lingering wine finish come together to create one of our most anticipated beers yet.

As always, draft and bottles will both be available at the release party. Bottles (750ml) will cost $20, limit 2, and they are numbered.

While Oud Bruin has been aged 20 months in the barrel, it will also develop further in the bottle over time. We encourage you to drink one bottle fresh, and cellar the second.

It’s not that often we release a beer like this!

Do. Not. Miss it!

Barrel Reserve 2014! Memorial Weekend!

We love Barrel Reserve. Not only does it let us flex our creative muscle, but it also opens up endless possibilities for barrel blending.

Last year we blended three whiskey-aged beers. This time around, we wanted to take it a different direction.

Barrel Reserve 2014 will debut Saturday, May 24th at 1pm! This year’s vintage is a blend of three ales aged in four types of barrels: Oloroso Sherry barrels from Spain, Chardonnay barrels from California, and Whiskey barrels from Colorado and Utah.

This blend gives Barrel Reserve 2014 a delicate and complex flavor, balancing the malt sweetness of our traditional Belgian brews with dry wine and sherry notes and finishing with a touch of oak.

We’ll have Barrel Reserve on tap and in bottles throughout Memorial Day Weekend. Bombers will run $15 each with a 4-bottle limit.

If that weren’t enough, we’ll also have a limited amount of last year’s Barrel Reserve on tap and in bottles to-go. Available starting at 1pm on the 24th, these will go fast, so if you want to try both vintages side-by-side get here early.

One final note: we’ll also extend our Sunday hours starting May 25th. During the summer, we’ll open at 1pm and close at 9pm every Sunday.

American Craft Beer Week!

Next week marks American Craft Beer Week! As always, we’ll have rare and limited beers on draft in the taproom all week (watch the Twitters for tappings as they happen). But we’re also joining in on some great events around town…

Wednesday, May 14th, 6pm: We were honored when both Ale House at Amato’s and Freshcraft approached us looking to feature RNB barrel-aged brews in their legendary beer dinners. Since both happen the same night, we’ve posted both menus below, so you can decide for yourself which to attend. Matt and Jess will feast at the Ale House, while Trent and Derek will hold it down at Freshcraft. Please contact the venues directly for reservations.

Thursday, May 15th, 6pm: Fort Collins, this one’s for you! Once again, we’re teaming up with our good friends at Tap & Handle as they delve into their cellar for a barrel-aged tap takeover. Starting at 6pm, Whiskey Barrel J. Marie, Wine Barrel J. Marie and Whiskey Barrel Quandary will all be on tap! We’ll also have some of our classic brews and RNB giveaways. Patrick and Kim will make the trip up to join the fun and answer any River North related questions.

Friday, May 16th, 4pm: Burger Night at Fairfax Wine & Spirits (Marczyk’s on Colfax)! Jess will pour free samples of River North brew paired with cheeses, and Marczyk’s will cook up gourmet burgers in the parking lot. Tasting starts at 4pm with the grill firing up at 5pm.

We hope to see you all out and about. Make sure to say hello and join us to raise a glass to the American beer revolution!
