American Craft Beer Week is quickly approaching (May 13-19), and we’ve got a full lineup of events to celebrate, both in the taproom and at some of the premier craft beer establishments around the Front Range.

We’ll start with the bare-bones info; scroll down for full details.

Monday, 5/13, 6pm: Meet the Brewer + tasting at Denver Bicycle Café, 1308 E. 17th Ave, Denver.

Wednesday 5/15 and Thursday 5/16, 3pm: A very special Wayward Wednesday tapping: Avarice Imperial Stout aged in Maker’s Mark barrels! Continuing on Thursday in the taproom at 2401 Blake St, Denver.

Thursday, 5/16: River North 8-tap takeover at Backcountry Pizza and Tap House, 2319 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder.

Saturday 5/18 and Sunday 5/19, 1pm: Taproom-only barrel-aged release: Hello, Darkness Black IPA aged in whiskey!

Monday May 13th: To kick off the week, the brew team will head over to Denver Bike Café for a tasting and Meet the Brewer event. Denver Bike Café was our first ever draft account, when they pedaled their bike trailer down to the taproom more than a year ago, hauling back nearly 300 pounds of kegs. Starting at 6pm, we’ll offer samples of our brewer’s picks. In addition, Bike Café will tap a sixtel of our Barrel Reserve 2013, a blend of whiskey-aged beers, to serve through the week.

Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th: Every Wednesday down at the taproom we have “Wayward Wednesday,” a special tapping of a limited barrel-aged beer or variation on an existing recipe. For this very special edition, we’ll tap a version of our Avarice Belgian-style Imperial Stout aged in freshly emptied Maker’s Mark barrels. First pour at 3pm Wednesday, continuing Thursday ‘til it’s gone.

Thursday, May 16th: River North Brewery heads to Boulder! We’ll be taking over the taps at Backcountry Pizza and Tap House with eight selections to choose from, both  year-round and specialty. Come check out the best beer bar in Boulder!

Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th: For the grand finale, at 1pm on Saturday we’ll debut the next beer in our barrel aged series. We give you…

Barrel Series No. 9, Hello, Darkness Black IPA aged in whiskey barrels!

Due to the extremely limited nature of this release (only 30 cases were bottled), this beer will only be available in the taproom; none will be distributed. Each bottle will be individually numbered and hand-labeled with love, and of course, we’ll have it on tap. The party will continue on Sunday, giving you more chances to get this rare gem.

We think that’ll ’bout do it! The fun starts in less than three weeks!

Paying Homage to our Roots…

Down at River North, it’s no secret that we love our Belgian yeast. The esters it produces can lend an extra layer of complexity to any beer, allowing us to blur style boundaries and create tasty new hybrids.

But every once in a while, you gotta throw it back to the classics.

So without further ado, we give you…River North Dubbel!

Our second foray into traditional Abbey-style brews (Quandary Quadrupel was the first), River North Dubbel delivers the dark fruit notes typical of monastic dark beers, backed by a seductive malty complexity and subtle sweetness. Deep yet quaffable, this brew clocks in at 7.4% ABV, offering rich complexity to match its continental counterparts.

River North Dubbel will drop on Saturday, April 20th, at 1pm in the taproom (2401 Blake Street for you newbies). We’ll be pouring drafts and have bombers-to-go. Eighty cases were bottled in total, so the leftovers will hit Denver-area stores the following week.

With a Quad and Dubbel under our belts, only two monastic styles remain unexplored…Tripel and Enkel (single).

Certain activities just scream Denver: Slurping green chili. Cruising in your Subaru. Shreddin’ the gnar.

But one exemplifies the spirit of the Mile High above all: Exploring Denver’s craft beer scene under one of the city’s 300 days of sunshine.

And just in time for Rockies Opening Day, we’re joining the party.

After more than six months in planning, starting TODAY, Thursday, April 4th, the River North patio is open! At 300 square feet, the addition will effectively double taproom capacity, providing an ideal space to pregame for the Rockies, catch some sun, and enjoy what makes this city great. For the first home game at 2:10 Friday, we will open at noon!

Year-round mountain views and sunsets, plus the best Belgian-style beers and Belgo-American hybrids in Denver…come check it out!
